Should you invest in expensive templates and software to start designing your site? The answer to that depends on how deep you want to dive into the field. This might be an expensive option as it makes use of the high priced software and development services, the users such as yourself may able to make the site more stylish and attractive.

Make sure that all of your colors match one another and readable at the same time even without correction or assistance. Dark text on a light background is the easiest for your visitor to read. Soliciting feedback from a friend can help you determine how effective your color scheme is if you develop doubts about it.

Avoid the use of pop-up advertising. Your customers will hate being flooded with popup ads. Who would want pop-up anyways? They appear to almost anywhere in the web including large and popular websites. That’s the reason why many visitors of the site do not continue their visits because of web owners’ mistake to employ such pop-up ads. However, if you do not want this to happen, try refusing or minimize accepting these ads. If it’s not possible, you can always find another host to work for.

If you are planning to design and run your own website, you’ll need an office space from which to work. Remove any distraction, such as clutter off your desk, and set up your workstation in a manner that you promoted efficiency and comfort. You need to jump to work quickly and accomplish tasks in the shortest amount of time. Keep your supplies close and ensure that you have adequate space to work effectively.

Simplicity with the web is of great impact to the visitors. A background with color white is somehow top choice because it makes the content more readable and simple for the visitors to read and which also ended them trusting your site. On the contrary, using complex background distracts visitors and can even make your site look unprofessional.

Choose fonts that are legible, and look professional. Check out a site’s fonts to rate it’s professional quality. Your style should specify a default font in case a user doesn’t have your preferred font. Try to use common browser fonts so your users don’t see unexpected type layouts.

This should go without saying, but it’s important! Do not upload your page to your server without reading over each word to make sure that there are not any grammatical or spelling errors. This might not be a great deal to you but believe me it greatly affects your credibility as you may look unprofessional to the visitors. So might as well reread your page to prevent publishing a poorly written content that might even cause your readers not to visit again.

Best names are presently taken, yet it might be still advantageous for you to search for any available domain names at various auction sites. Through these sites, you may be able to buy great domain names that are previously used for websites but abandoned, sold or if not, not useful anymore.

To learn how to design a site is not like you are learning how to do open heart surgery. You don’t need to attend school, and someone’s life isn’t being held in the palm of your hands. Just by utilizing the tips in the above article, you can design an excellent website right now.

Did your blog suddenly lose traffic? There is nothing worse than signing into your analytics account only to see that your traffic isn’t looking as good as it did the day or week before. You might start sweating over the potential penalties, your website quality, or even the economy, maybe even your reputation but don’t worry, because a little sleuthing is sure to reveal the real culprit.

Before You Begin: What Changed?

Low blog traffic can mean many things. It’s important to figure out what exactly has changed. Maybe you are losing traffic you once gained from social media, or maybe one of your top keywords simply stopped driving traffic. Before you can proceed, you need to know which specific traffic stream is failing. If you don’t know how to figure out WHAT has changed, you might want to visit this great SEO agency to get the situation sorted out before trying to proceed on your own.

The Big Three

If you do know what has changed, the following three questions will help narrow down the list of suspects.

1. What Did I Change?

Little things, like a new blog post, probably won’t affect your rankings too much unless the blog post in question breaks some major search engine rules. Changes to your website layout, domain/host settings, keyword strategy, or website structure are more likely culprits. All of these, except for the keyword strategy, will likely affect the majority of your website. A poor keyword strategy will show up on your new additions.

It’s never good to change too many core site components at once. Change one or two things at a time and keep track of your performance. Even simple changes can take weeks to affect your search engine results and your traffic, bounce rates, or conversions.

2. What Did my Competitors Change?

If only one or two keywords started to fail, you might be suffering from a case of “aggressive competition”. Your competitors may have started to bury your website in the search engines or may have bought a better advertisement slot with a catchier headline. It’s hard to tell what crafty competitors are doing behind the scenes.

Pick out a few of the search terms that have faltered in their effectiveness. Type them into the major search engines and see for yourself. You might be surprised to see a nasty review of your business sitting at the top of your branded searches, or you might find that a competitor has hired a new SEO firm or has delved into some shady link building practices.

You might even be the victim of malicious link building, meaning that a competitor has driven hundreds of penalized links to your page or website. Always keep an eye on inbound links. This type of sabotage is very rare, however.

3. What Did the Search Engines Change?

You have to stay up to date. The search engines change their algorithms daily. Don’t go off changing every blog post title or anchor link just because an SEO blog made a prediction (see question #1) but make sure you know what is happening in the world of SEO. Your site may be getting less traffic because your keyword strategy is too limited, or because a big search engine decided it did not like the look of your anchor links. Most major algorithm changes level themselves out bloggers do not often have to worry, but hardcore marketers might.

Are you still having a hard time diagnosing your sudden loss of traffic? Join millions of other bloggers who deal with this conundrum every day. Make sure to surround yourself with a community, especially within your own niche, so you can better understand when your worries are justified and when they’re not. Diagnosing low traffic or search volume is difficult to do alone the Internet is still very much a “web” where casual connections can mean everything.

Two primary factors that have to be part of any website are internet marketing oriented design and of course the content, presentation and code being optimized for use by search engine spiders. The same rule that applies to any website obviously extends to business sites as well. It is businesses that have a large budget for their website and they pay well. Website developers understand this and since they wish to get paid more for their efforts, any half way decent web developer would know how to incorporate these design elements of marketing and search optimization into his development methods.

There is a catch though, which is in several ways a disturbing trend that can be observed as being common across several website developers. Lots of these developers are simply learning some tips and tricks about search engine optimization or SEO and implement them on a case by case basis in the websites they develop. What is missing though is that they are continuing to ignore looking at SEO as an activity that evolves as the website is being built.

An Example

Let us explain this phenomenon with the example of a movie. These days presenting a movie in the third dimension or 3D is all the rage in Hollywood. Every day, we keep hearing news about movies that have been shot in the regular 2D format but then in order to make a little extra money the studio decides to have that money converted to the extra dimension. Originally the movie was never envisioned to be shown with that added dimension but suddenly it is being presented that way.

In many ways, this is precisely what many website designers are doing. They first go ahead and plan out their website development game plan and then build it. Once that is done, they start making changes here and there and try to make it optimized for getting a higher web rank in search engines. Of course, unlike a movie, the website is just code and code can be changed at any point of time. However, the fact remains that this approach is a patch and snatch technique which is not as efficient as doing the same SEO implementation organically.

Static Beliefs

The problem here lies in the belief that several ordinary web designers hold about search engine optimization. Many are of the opinion that search engine optimization means it is a simple matter of making sure that the content is heavy with appropriate keywords. They also are under the impression that to be ranked in the top ten or twenty in search engines, all one needs to do is put in good meta tags and implement tried and tested SEO code.

No one is going to claim that the above techniques are bad. What is bad though is relying only on keywords and meta tags to help break through the pillage of websites of similar content and gain a higher page rank. If a website should truly possess a higher page rank, http://www.ryster.co.uk/ believes that it should be developed in a better way. Not just to put some keywords and Meta tags.

If you are on the lookout for hiring a website developer to write your new business website or reworking your currently poorly coded website by a faulty past developer then you should start by understanding the capabilities of the website developer. For instance, at the risk of sounding a bit technical, there is such a thing called as Content Management Solutions or CMS. In simple words, this technology is what allows a website to manage all the media that includes pictures, audio, video and of course text data.

Content Management Solutions

The way the CMS manages its data has a direct impact on how much the website leans towards being optimized for search. Examples of popular CMS platforms include software technologies such as WordPress. One defining factor about any CMS is the number of plugins it makes available to do a variety of things both on the front end of the website and on the back end as well.

To get an understanding of what these plugins do, consider your phone. If you use an iPhone or an Android phone you have surely used one or more apps. These apps allow you to use your phone for any number of things. These activities could range from being able to shoot birds to destroy some animated pigs or it could help you check your email and take down notes.

As it is with apps, plugins allow you to extend the functionality of your website appearance as well site management tools. A clever website developer, like a freelance web designer Edinburgh, will know exactly how to use the right set of plugins with the CMS so as to get the most in terms of optimization to your website. A really brilliant website developer would even go to the extent of having developed your website organically, build unique plugins just for your website and enormously improve its page rank in the search engine rankings.

Since its creation, facebook has gone from being an isolated network of college students, to the worldwide phenomenon of connecting anybody and everybody. No longer are social media sites only for pre-teens and college students. Facebook page creation has become something that anybody can do, and does for that matter. While you can still find young people, celebrities, and trending topics on facebook, you can also find your mom, your grandma, and all those people that never would have dreamed or cared about social networking 5-10 years ago. Now it’s a necessity.

Flattening the Globe Digitally

Facebook has allowed society to become connected in a way that most of us were never smart enough to think of. And even still, the majority of people will only see facebook as a site where they can peruse their friends pages, “like” funny pictures or articles and find long lost acquaintances. But others will unlock the side of facebook that even less of us imagined, using it for business. This is becoming increasing more popular, to a point that if you aren’t doing it already, or planning to shortly, you can be sure that your competitors are, and you will be left behind. With over 260 million members worldwide, facebook has created its own digital country, where you simultaneously market to all demographics in a forum where most users will stay for hours, this is allowing brand new marketing strategies to take flight and help you increase your bottom line.

The Answer is Simple

It’s not hard to customize your facebook page, or even that expensive. Some people are tech-savy and can create their own stellar page. If you are like the rest of us however, and feel like you would rather sit down for a long uncomfortable dinner with your in-laws than try to figure out how to create a social media page for your business; don’t worry, there are people to call that can take your company profile page and turn it into a bona fide revenue stream for your company. You can create an interactive platform where customers will want to stay and look around.

Your Page Should Stand Out

There is much more to a great facebook page than just having your name and number in one more place that hopefully some customer will stumble upon. You can create polls that allow customers to vote on current products, giving them a sense of ownership in the company. This will make them feel like they are partially responsible for that item that sits on the shelf in your store. You can offer discounts to those who visit your facebook page, enter them in contests for prizes, and much more. Facebook can, and should be a legitimate way for you to generate business, but first you have to create your own killer facebook page. It needs to be something different, out of the ordinary, something that your competitor won’t think of. Business is shifting gears with the digital age, and if you don’t keep up, you will get left in the dust.

Online marketing is consuming the marketing budgets of businesses everywhere and for good reason. By the year 2014 it is estimated that over half of all retail sales will happen online. If a business refuses to market online they do so at their own peril.

To Do Online Marketing or to Hire it Out?

When a business is working to market their business online there is the question of whether to hire a company to do that for them or to try and learn and do it themselves. After that, there is the question, if it has been decided to hire it out, whether to hire an agency to do the work or to hire someone to come in-house to do the work. There are pros and cons to all angles of this. However, in the beginning especially, it is likely best to hire this work out to an agency. There are several reasons why a business would be wise to approach it this way.

Pros of Hiring an Online Marketing Agency

When a business is new to the internet marketing space it does not take long to learn that there is an overwhelming amount of detail to make it happen successfully. In addition, a business may quickly learn that things are changing and evolving at a break neck pace on the internet. What was the best practice yesterday may be tactic that is to be avoided today. There is not question that hiring a professional is the way to go. In addition, when a business hires an agency they can manage them and hold them accountable to get work done and get results. An agency can easily tell them if they are thinking incorrectly on any given subject and may have a lot of resources avialble to help with all kinds of related things. When a business hires someone in-house they may make some mistakes in trying to manage that person and it may result in an unsuccessful campaign. In addition, that person will need resources which is going to cost additional money the business may not have budgeted.

Pros of Doing Online Marketing

The largest advantage of doing online marketing, aside from the fact that more and more business is finding its way online each year, is the fact that it is so much more measurable and targeted. In the past, marketing wasl argely a numbers game. Throw marketing at the masses and you will get some response. Now, with local online search marketing playing an even larger role, a localo business can focus their efforts and target them so well that they are reducing their marketing costs and measuring ROI as a direct result of their marketing efforts. The secret that many local businesses lose sight of is the fact that they should compare their ROI on their online marketing efforts to what they were doing before. Not even close.

Local online search is where one uses different internet search engines to enter geographically constrained search against various structured databases of business listings. The engines give the names, areas, postal codes, directions, longitudes and latitudes and any relevant information which will eventually help in your quest.

The engines have provided an avenue where business people are able to advertise for their products and services. They do no longer rely on televisions, radios, billboards and newspapers to advertise for their products. The internet is making them shift from the traditional offline advertisements to online advertisement. Offline advertisements include the newspapers and yellow pages.

The sites are supported by numerous advertisements which are provided by the business people. The sites are very helpful as they allow the advertisements to be targeted exclusively to the terms provided by the user. For instance, if a user is trying to get more information about a business in Miami say for example hotel in Miami. They should type the name of the hotel. The engine will only direct them to the hotel and not any other hotel.

There are several engines available in the internet making advertisements easier and convenient. The engines include Google map which was formerly known as Google local, windows live, yahoo, ask city and other several engines. All of them are designed for a common objective but work differently. They provide the business people with a chance to upload their business data to their respective databases.

Google maps application was previously known as Google local. The engine looks for the physical address as they are entered by the user. It gives a variety of results which are constrained to the terms entered by the user. Moreover, it can give various related business listings alongside with their specific locations. If you need a specific search which will direct you promptly, then you can use the target web crawling technique. This technique will narrow your work and save most of your time.

Web crawling technique is way where a program called a web crawler surfs the internet in a methodical automated manner. The technique is synonymously called the spidering process. The program creates a copy of all visited pages which will be processed later by the engine. It will index the downloaded pages for a faster search.

Yahoo has separated its application into two. It has provided the user with the option of choosing either the yahoo local or yahoo maps. Yahoo local gives business data and any other relevant information needed by the user. Yahoo maps on the other hand focuses on maps and their features. It provides directions, latitudes and longitudes and any map related feature which will be helpful to the user. You can use the given direction to access a given business premise.

You do not need a desktop computer, a laptop, a Mac or a high end computer to use local online search engines. A mobile phone browser is enough. The most recent mobile phones have an integrated XML protocol that allows their browsers to easily open the engines. It is indeed easy and convenient to find whatever you need by the use of a phone.

Local online marketing services have turned the internet into a very powerful marketing for the corporate world. Besides making your business findable these services make it easy for clients to look for and find services as well as retail stores in your line of business that are available locally in a particular area. Using the service therefore serves as a guarantee that you will be able to capture more customers/clients but also draw the attention of many other prospects.

To have an unmatched business presence online having opted these localized marketing service here are a few tips and key factors to consider. First take time to do research in order to identify the best service provider. Make sure whichever company that you settle for will provide you with quality works and ensure efficiency while working together.

The service on offer should equally be cost efficient as this will make it even easier to achieve the already set business goals. Have a good understanding of your requirements and the best way to make decisions. This is important because finding the right service provider involves making a few crucial decisions bearing in mind the fact that the company you choose to work with is most likely to end up serving as your partner while growing the business to its full potential.

It is therefore very important that you leave nothing to chance. The best way to this is to explore all available option in your quest to find the right company that can realize your promotion objectives and goals. Look for a company with a good track record of service to other clients and has evidence of vast experience and expertise in helping small business grow and realize their marketing goals.

Focus on the performance track record of companies you feel you can work with. Do not let your mind be overshadowed by the size of the operation of a company as it is with many other all business owners. Preferably opt for a company whose services match up with your requirements. Take note, in case you do not clearly understand your business marketing requirements; you are likely to end up hiring the services of a marketing service provider that will not engage your target market and bring the desired results.

While looking for the right service provider remember that it is only through you and the kind of decisions that you make that the business grow in the desired way. This simply means that finding the right service provider to market your business is more about you the business owner more than the service provider its self. Noting this is very important.

In the processing of looking for the best service provider take note that not all the available companies online are genuine. Some are simply self proclaimed individuals who would want to convince you that their service are the best yet their only interest is in getting your money rather than delivering results by helping you to reach out the your target market. You should beware of such.

To market your business successfully you will need to consider applying local online marketing services. This however can only be possible once you have found a company with the right strategies and ample experience that will benefit your business. This is very important to note.

Working in the internet marketing industry is great, but, like any job, it has its ups and downs. If you are considering applying for an internet marketing job or just are curious as to what the job exactly entails, you have come to the right place. Mostly, I am an “internet content expert,” so I will be focusing on that, but I will try to give you all the low down.

The Job Description

As a content writer, it is my job to write search engine optimization (SEO) articles, blogs both on clients’ websites and on guest blogging sites, and actual webpage content (the cream of the crop in internet marketing).

There is a slogan that is popular in the internet marketing kingdom that goes “content is king,” which, obviously, makes me feel pretty darn important. Keep in mind, as you are going through the sections of the job that are not so great, that you are a gear in a well-oiled machine that can’t function properly without you.

The Best Part of the Job

As I mentioned before, webpage writing is one of the best kinds of writing you will ever do. It is wonderful because you usually get paid the most for them (if you are a contracted employee, that is). They are also exciting because a well-written webpage can be the difference between bringing in more customers and scaring them away.

When I first started working in the internet marketing field, I had the privilege to work on Tri-State Shreveport’s website. Their website is all about air, water, heat, and bathroom remodeling, and, honestly, I did not know much about those topics when I began the project.

Thankfully, Tri-State Shreveport already had a website but wanted a new one, so I did not have to do all the research on my own. However, I did have to do some research, and, if you are thinking about becoming a content writer, you need to expect researching to be a very large portion of your job.

Fortunately, the Tri-State Shreveport website was a success, and the client liked it. That’s really the biggest thing that matters.

Picky Clients

Any professional designer or content writer no doubt has millions of stories about clients who are completely ridiculous with their demands, even going so far as to ask if they can have stream of consciousness of their dog, Miffles, on the homepage of the website (which is, if you did not know, a reference to a wonderful Oatmeal comic you need to read).

Anyway, you work for the client, and, because they are paying you to do your job (either directly or indirectly), you have to make them happy. However, the bigger your company is, the more you can say: “No, a stream of consciousness from your dog, Miffles, would not actually be a great way to boost your SEO,” which is a definite upside to working for a larger company.

Overall, though, working in internet marketing is exciting. As more and more companies rely on the internet to do their advertising, internet marketing jobs are everywhere. Keep up with the ever-changing industry and use correct grammar, and you will be well on your way to success!
